Edinburg, TX – According to a press release by the club, RGVFC signed brazilian winger Taiberson Ruan Menezes and forward Kyle Edwards to the club.
Taiberson Ruan Menezes
Taiberson, 26, joins the Toros from S.E.R Caixas do Sul in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C.
“Taiberson is explosive and dynamic in the final third – he has the ability to play a variety of attacking roles. We have been tracking him for sometime and feel his formation and experience at Athletico Paranaense and Internacional will be a huge benefit to our young team,” RGVFC General Manager Nick Kowba said.
Taiberson made his professional debut on July 11, 2012 after rising from the Athletico Paranaense academy.
In 2014, Taiberson joined SC Internacional where he scored one goal in 18 appearances. He was a member of the Campeonato Gaúcho winning Inter squad in 2015.
However, the young brazilian has been unable to stay in a club for the long term, having been consistently loaned out from Inter multiple times until 2018. He then joined Veranópolis Esporte Clube late 2018, only to leave the club in April to join S.E.R Caixas do Sul. In the Serie B, the winger scored three goals and made two assists in 24 appearances.
Kyle Edwards arrives after a successful collegiate career at UTRGV, having scored 21 career goals with the Vaqueros between the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
In both of those seasons, Edwards was named to the All-WAC First Team and WAC Preseason Player of the Year in 2019.
Edwards joined the Brazos Valley Cavalry, the USL League two affiliate of the Houston Dynamo, last summer where he scored 15 goals in 13 appearances, making him the co-winner of the 2019 USL league Two Golden Boot. That season the Brazos Valley Cavalry won the Mid-South Division title (second in a row) and reached the Conference final.
Kyle Edwards is also no stranger to the international stage as he has 15 appearances to the senior Saint Vincent and Grenadines National Team.
Welcome to the Rio Grande Valley Taiberson and Kyle!!
